0 Comments | Posted by admin in Infiniti News
Infiniti today released official Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel economy estimates for the 2011 Infiniti M performance luxury sedan, showing increases of up to four miles per gallon versus 2010 M models. The new generation M’s all-new design includes two new powerplants, a 3.7-liter V6 and 5.6-liter V8, each offering more horsepower and torque than the previous smaller displacement designs.
The 2011 Infiniti M horsepower, torque, fuel economy figures, and increases compared to the previous generation models, are:

“The all-new 2011 Infiniti M’s powertrains offer both increased power and efficiency,” said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. “Our V6 power is up 9% to 330 horsepower, while V8 power is up almost 30% to 420 horsepower and torque is increased 24% to 417 lb-ft — while amazingly adding 4 mpg Highway for the M56 and 3 mpg Highway for the all-wheel drive M56x.”
Multiple advanced technologies allow the new Infiniti M to provide these increases in power and torque while also improving fuel efficiency across all model offerings. The 3.7-iter V6 and all-new 5.6-liter V8 engine both utilize Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) to optimize both intake and exhaust valve timing. Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technology is also applied to the intake valves on both the V6 and V8 engines to improve performance, emissions and fuel efficiency.
In addition, Direct Injection Gasoline? technology is applied to the all-new 5.6-liter V8, providing more precise combustion control to optimize emissions, fuel economy and torque. An electronically controlled 7-speed automatic is applied as the standard transmission on all 2011 M models. As a result of the improved fuel economy figures, the gas guzzler tax previously accessed on the 2010 M45x does not apply to the 2011 M56x.
“It’s an impressive feat of engineering to not only gain 95 horsepower and 81 ft-lb of torque while also improving fuel efficiency by up to 4 mpg for the new V8,” added Poore. “Most of all, however, we think buyers will be impressed by the smooth, responsive performance of both the new V6 and V8. Power plus efficiency — that’s a great definition of Inspired Performance.”
The all-new 2011 Infiniti M is scheduled to go on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide beginning March 18, 2011.

San Francisco collaborate to develope Bay area EV charging network

12.07.2009 , SAN FRANCISCO NISSAN,
SAN FRANCISCO COLLABORATE TO DEVELOP BAY AREA EV CHARGING NETWORK
Nissan LEAF Electric Car Available in Bay Area Next Year Nissan North America, Inc., today announced that Nissan and the City of San Francisco, on behalf of the Bay Area EV Corridor program, are working to advance zero-emission mobility by promoting the development of an electric vehicle (EV) charging network in the nine-county region. The cities of Oakland and San Jose, county governments in the Bay Area and other public and private stakeholders are participants in the regional EV Corridor program. As part of the collaboration, Nissan has committed to making the Nissan LEAF zero-emission, all-electric vehicle commercially available in the Bay Area upon its debut in December 2010. Nissan will work with San Francisco and the region to promote and develop a vehicle-charging infrastructure, including home charging, as well as streamlining the process for installing charging equipment. The Nissan LEAF will be the pilot vehicle for the implementation of this streamlined process. “Nissan is committed to the San Francisco market and is looking forward to working with the city and others in the partnership to make zero emissions a reality throughout the Bay Area,” said Brian Carolin, senior vice president, sales and marketing, Nissan North America. “In one year, Nissan LEAF zero-emission vehicles will be driving on the streets of San Francisco.” “We are making every effort to have the infrastructure ready when the Nissan LEAF arrives and we are extremely pleased to have Nissan as a collaborative partner in making that happen,” said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. “This collaboration stems from Nissan’s recognition of the aggressive work we are doing to make the San Francisco Bay Area the nation’s EV capital.” In November 2008, Newsom, San Jose Mayor Chuck Read and Oakland Mayor Ron Dellums pledged to make the Bay Area the “EV Capital of the U.S.” Stemming from that pledge, the Bay Area EV Corridor program was formed as the organizational structure through which municipal governments in the nine-county region and private stakeholders coordinate efforts to make the region EV-ready. Nissan is a participant in the project, and the collaboration announced today is an extension of that work. Nissan and the City of San Francisco announced the collaboration today at San Francisco City Hall, where the Nissan LEAF made a stop on its nationwide tour. The Nissan LEAF Zero Emission Tour is making stops in 22 cities, in 11 states across the United States, the District of Columbia, and Vancouver in Canada, offering the opportunity for interested drivers, media, civic partners, businesses and university students to learn more about the Nissan LEAF and the benefits of zero-emission driving. Nissan is the only automaker committed to making all-electric vehicles available to the mass market on a global scale. Nissan already has formed partnerships to develop electric-vehicle infrastructure in the State of Tennessee; the State of Oregon; Sonoma County and San Diego, Calif.; Phoenix and Tucson, Ariz.; Washington D.C.; Seattle; Raleigh, N.C., Houston, Texas, and Vancouver. In North America, Nissan’s operations include automotive design, engineering, consumer and corporate financing, sales and marketing, distribution and manufacturing. Nissan is dedicated to improving the environment under the Nissan Green Program 2010, whose key priorities are reducing CO2 emissions, cutting other emissions and increasing recycling. 5 Tips on Making Your Car More Fuel Efficient
0 Comments | Posted by admin in Automotive Advice
With gas prices sky high most individuals who drive are interested in ways they can make their car more fuel efficient and save as much money as possible. While there are no fuel saving tips that will keep your car full of gas without filling up, there are some tips that really can help you save money on fuel over the long run. All of these tips focus on making your car more fuel efficient.
Fuel Efficiency Tip #1
Drive When You Crank Up This might seem obvious, but as soon as you crank up your car you should drive off. However, many people crank up and leave the car idling for a while. Instead of this, when you crank up drive off and only keep your car running when it is absolutely necessary.
Fuel Efficiency Tip #2
Don’t Ride the Break Many drivers hit the break more often than is necessary. Additionally there are quite a few drivers that slow down for a braking car when they could easily switch lanes. Not riding the break can increase your fuel efficiency by up to 30%, so this is a great tip you should follow.
Fuel Efficiency Tip #3
Turn Off Your Car If you are going to be stopping for more than 10 minutes you should switch off your car to keep fuel efficiency at its peak and not burn more gas than is necessary.
Fuel Efficiency Tip #4
Don’t Turn Off Your Car If you are only stopping for a brief moment or less than 5 minutes then don’t turn off your car because the amount of gas used to crank up is more than you would burn in that short period of time.
Fuel Efficiency Tip #5
Inflate Tires Properly Too many drivers never think of their tires, unless one goes flat. However, having tires that are properly inflated can save fuel and make your car more fuel efficient, saving you money. Because of this, you should check your tire pressure on a regular basis.
